ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
Stay sharp as we enter a new school year with a timely, practical webinar series led by New Hampshire school law attorneys Liz Trautz, Luke Webster, and Milli Zonarich. Each one-hour webinar session is grounded in the legal trends and emerging issues we’re seeing across the state, designed to help school staff navigate these complex topics with clarity and confidence. Below is a summary of each session:
Session 1: Eeeek! Navigating Parent Requests for Independent Educational Evaluations | September 23, 2026
Parent requests for Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) can raise immediate questions about timelines, obligations, and strategy. This session breaks down the legal requirements and practical considerations so schools can respond appropriately, stay compliant, and avoid common pitfalls.
Session 2: You’ve Been Served! What K–12 School Staff Need to Know About Subpoenas | September 30, 2026
Subpoenas seem more common in K-12 schools each year, and they rarely arrive at a convenient time — or on the right desk. This session will help clients understand what a subpoena is (and is not), who should handle it, and what to do (and not do) when one is received. We will provide insight on the different reasons that school staff might receive a subpoena and discuss common issues to consider when school staff respond to one.
Session 3: Endgame: Legal and Practical Considerations for Graduation and Eligibility Termination | October 7, 2026
Exiting students from special education — whether through graduation, aging out, or termination of eligibility — requires careful substantive and procedural attention. This session will explore the requirements, documentation, and decision-making processes involved, with an emphasis on ensuring compliance while supporting sound, defensible outcomes for districts.
