Description

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
Maine schools have been dealing with an increasing number of grievances and other staff challenges to their handling of "dangerous behavior" complaints. Disagreements may center on what constitutes "dangerous behavior"; whether mental injuries are covered by the law and school policy and, if so, in what circumstances; and whether certain leaves that may be related to alleged "dangerous behavior" can be paid out of an employee's sick time. In this webinar, we will discuss Maine’s dangerous student behavior law and how schools can comply with its requirements. We will also provide practical strategies to address common employee challenges to the ways schools respond to reports of alleged "dangerous behavior." We have budgeted one and a half hours for this webinar so that there will be plenty of time for us to answer your questions.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This program is designed primarily for Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Business Managers, HR Directors, Principals, Assistant Principals, and any other administrator involved in addressing reports of dangerous student behavior or employee challenges to how those reports are handled.
