In part one, our presenters will review the standards for determining which students qualify for supports through Section 504. We also address the role of medical diagnoses and the various pitfalls schools fall into when making eligibility decisions under Section 504.

Session 2: Wednesday, November 13, 2024 | 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
In part two, the focus will be on the important procedural obligations imposed on school officials by Section 504. Allen and Eric will discuss the content of student 504 plans and the intersection between Section 504 and special education, as well as issues concerning student health plans, discipline, and access to extracurricular activities.

Session 3: Wednesday, November 20, 2024 | 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
In part three, Allen and Eric will discuss the most recent developments regarding Section 504 and the ADA, and touch on challenging topics such as bullying and harassment involving students with disabilities, non-attending students, service animals, and other issues commonly investigated by the Office for Civil Rights.
