Description

Come join your colleagues for a day of professional development and updates on the law as it applies to Maine school business officials! This event presents an excellent opportunity to network with other school business officials from across the state and learn from those with real life experience in dealing with important legal issues affecting business operations of Maine schools. Attendees will receive credits toward MeASBO certification.
Our school finance and labor attorneys will discuss the topics below:
  • Preparing for the next State-Subsidized School Construction Project Rating Cycle

We will discuss how the state subsidized school construction process works, including tips on the application process.

  • Maine’s Paid Family and Medical Lease

We will cover the new Paid Family and Medical Leave law, including what we know, what you can expect, and what you need to be on the lookout for.

  • Current Environmental Issues Impacting School Business

We will cover environmental liability issues with renovation and construction projects, PFAS, and other emerging issues.

  • ACA Reporting Review

The IRS now requires employers to file Form 1095-C ACA reports without mistakes or face significant penalties. We will review ACA reporting requirements and provide practical examples of how to complete the form for common employment classifications.
