ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Successful IEP teams require more than an understanding of special education law. They also require team members who know their roles, can navigate difficult conversations, and can work collaboratively toward sound, legally compliant decisions. MADSEC and Drummond Woodsum are excited to offer a practical training designed for school and district staff involved in the IEP process. The training will cover the basics of special education law from child find through graduation, with a bonus section on student discipline and manifestation determination meetings. It will also focus on the practical side of the work, including how to run effective IEP team meetings, diffuse conflict, build consensus, and navigate the sometimes-competing considerations that arise when determining how best to support a student.
Complete with practical scenarios and real-world examples, this training is a great opportunity for district teams and a must for administrators and IEP Coordinators serving as LEA Representatives.
