It's a Twister! Special Education in the Age of Covid
Our Drummond Woodsum Special Education Team addresses all things related to delivery of special education during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the most up to date legal issues arising at this time. Keeping with the topic, our annual conference will of course be delivered on ZOOOOOM, and we will do our very best to keep this engaging, even through distance learning! Of course, we will be addressing legal issues relating to distance learning, mask requirements, compensatory education, hybrid services, and procedural compliance. We will also be soliciting questions in advance from each of you, and from that list we be will selecting a TOP TEN list of questions exploring the out-of-the-ordinary issues presented by this pandemic. And yes, each of our TOP TEN questioners will be getting a prize for having their question selected. What is better than that! Even if COVID-19 has slowed many things, it has not slowed special education litigation, so we will also be discussing new case law over this past year, including important litigation around eligibility and services for students with specific learning disabilities, and statewide challenges to the special education discipline rules. In other words, we are still at it, even during the pandemic, delivering the most up to date legal information in an exciting and thought provoking manner. This is NOT to be missed. This conference is aimed at all school personnel who intersect with special education, including superintendents, directors, principals, teachers, nurses, evaluators, and counselors. Our Presenters: Eric Herlan, Isabel Ekman, and Penny Wheeler Abbott – a modern day “Tinker to Evers to Chance!” Google that one, at the same time you are enrolling for this presentation!
