Description

About the program:   This hour and a half seminar is designed for all administrators and guidance staff who are grappling with how to meet the legal obligations they carry with respect to transgender and gender expansive students. We will address difficult but common student issues, how the legal landscape continues to develop in this area, and how to best address the conflict points that regularly arise when supporting these students. As part of this program, attendees will receive a model student support plan recently developed by Drummond Woodsum and intended to aid schools in structuring a student centered response.
Topics will include:
  • Applicable state and federal Laws;
  • Unique Legal obligations that schools have with respect to transgender students;
  • Practical application of these obligations in the school context;
  • Common challenges;
  • How to structure a supportive response, and more!
Who should attend?   This program is designed for central office administrators, building administrators, and guidance support staff who either already have been, or will be, tasked with finding the best ways to support students who identify as transgender or gender expansive.
