Description

This is the definitive three-part review of all the key requirements of Section 504 as it impacts students in your schools.  Drummond Woodsum attorneys Eric Herlan and Allen Kropp are national experts in this area and will provide all the information you need.
Session 1 | Wednesday, November 8, 2017 | 12:30-1:45 PM
In part one, Eric and Allen will review the standards for determining eligibility under this law, especially in light of earlier expansions in those standards by Congress.
Session 2 | Monday, November 13, 2017 | 12:30-1:45 PM
In part two, Eric and Allen will focus on the important procedural obligations imposed on school officials by Section 504, and also will discuss the content of student 504 plans and the differences between Section 504 and special education in terms of what schools must provide to students.
Session 3 | Monday, November 20, 2017 | 12:30-1:45 PM
In part three, Allen explains the inner workings of the OCR and how to handle an OCR complaint most effectively. Eric will discuss the most recent new developments in Section 504, including service animals and their handlers, and the “effective communication” requirement. Not to be missed by anyone with any responsibilities under Section 504, including special education personnel, principals, superintendents, school nurses and counselors!
